D&M Overview
Well so I am about to leave the D&M side of things. So here was the overview of the time I spent here. I went to the Shop for about 2 weeks and there I learned about all of the different types of tools and was given many resources to aid that process. I also took a project on of re-vamping a work process and switching it over to the new format of the companies liking. I spent time helping guys in the shop work on tools while they taught me about them. There are so many different tools and they all have their place in the oil field. Then I went to the rig for a week. Here is where the real learning took place. Not only did I know what tools we were running, but now I was helping in the process. I saw the way logs are generated and what they are used for. I learned about the drilling operation up close and personal with the people who preform it. It is really a crazy thing if you have never seen it or have never thought about the concept. Everyone here is very helpful in teaching you about anything you are curious of. I sat in the unit and helped the engineers preform their daily tasks and before I left they let me run the show for a shift. This way I could get a feel for what was going on. I helped produce reports and logs. Whatever I could do I helped them with. D&M is an awesome segment and I learned much more in 3 weeks here than I ever would have reading about it. There is just so much to grasp and it all works together. Drilling is a super complex way of making a hole where the company wants it.
